With flu season quickly approaching, it’s important to take the time to get your influenza vaccine. During the month of October, the Clinic at Riverside will be offering a walk-in flu clinic on Friday’s from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The flu is a contagious illness caused by influenza viruses. While it can be a mild illness, the flu can also be very serious and lead to hospitalization or sometimes even death. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), anyone can get the flu, but those who are at high risk for flu-related illnesses include those 65 years and older, those with certain chronic medical conditions (such as asthma, diabetes or heart disease), pregnant women and young children.
“The best way to prevent seasonal flu is to get the flu vaccine every year, practice good cough etiquette and wash your hands,” says Anita Zimmer, RCMH Infection Prevention Specialist.
To receive your flu shot, attend the walk-in flu clinic located in the Clinic at Riverside on October 6, October 13, October 20 or October 27 between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. The fee is $25 to be paid upon arrival, no appointment necessary.
If you’d like the charge to be billed to your insurance company, please call to schedule an appointment by calling 715-532-5561. Scheduled flu shot appointments are available Monday through Thursday.
