National Nurse Practitioner Week

November 9, 2016

Rusk County Memorial Hospital (RCMH) invites you to celebrate National Nurse Practitioner Week, November 13-19, by recognizing our exceptional Nurse Practitioners at RCMH: Jenifer Deziel, APNP, Jennifer Friday, APNP, Gigi LaBelle, MSN, FNP-BC, Kim Moldenhauer, DNP, FNP-BC and Diana Scharine, APNP.

Nurse Practitioners, also known as NPs, are expert clinicians with advanced training who provide primary, acute and specialty healthcare. They can examine and diagnose, provide treatment and prescribe medication for their patients. This year’s NP Week marks over 50 years of practice for these healthcare professionals. In the United States, there are approximately 222,000 licensed NP’s, with an additional 20,000 NP students graduating each year.

Nurse Practitioners emphasize the health and well-being of the whole person in their approach, including helping patients make educated healthcare decisions and healthy lifestyle choices. Focusing not only on diagnosing and managing acute and chronic illnesses, NPs integrate health promotion, disease prevention, counseling and patient education to help patients understand their complete health picture.
