Digital Mammography

In November 2006, the Imaging Center at Rusk County Memorial Hospital became the first Fuji Computed Radiography for Mammography site in Wisconsin. This new technology captures digital images of the breast and within seconds, the images are sent to a computer work station.

The new Fuji digital mammography system offers many benefits over conventional film mammography including:

Medical X-Ray Consultants, Inc. Radiologist James Geraghty, MD, who is on staff at Rusk County Memorial Hospital, appreciates the upgrade to digital mammography. He states:

"The new digital mammographic images represent a significant advance over the old technology. The improved visualization will allow for better detection of early stage breast cancer. Rusk County Memorial Hospital should be commended for their commitment to quality medical imaging."

Only about 10% of the more than 8500 imaging centers approved to provide mammography in the United States offer digital technology. Rusk County Memorial Hospital is pleased to share this advanced technology and provide quality medical images to our patients.
