Arterial Doppler Ultrasound of the Extremities
Purpose: An Arterial Doppler Ultrasound is used to measure blood flow through the major arteries in the arms and/or legs.
Preparation: An Arterial Doppler Ultrasound does not require any advance preparation. Prior to your exam, a Registered Ultrasound Technician will explain the procedure and answer any questions you have.
What to Expect: You will be asked to lie on your back on the ultrasound table. A warm gel will be applied to the area being studied. The ultrasound technician will move the transducer back and forth against the skin to capture the requested images.
Post Exam Information: Your images will be reviewed by a Radiologist and the results of your exam will be forwarded to your physician. Your physician will be able to discuss the results of your exam with you.
Time Frame: 45-60 minutes
