Echocardiogram (Cardiac Echo)

Purpose: An Echocardiogram is a procedure used to evaluate the anatomy of the heart.

Preparation: Having an Echocardiogram does not require any advance preparation. Prior to your exam, a Cardiac Echo Technician will explain the procedure to you and answer any questions you may have.

What to Expect: You will be asked to lie comfortably on a bed, and the echo technician will place gel on your chest to allow the transducer to scan smoothly. The technician will slide the transducer across your chest as images of the heart are captured.

Post Exam Information: Your Echocardiogram will be reviewed by a Cardiologist and the interpretation will be shared with your referring physician.

Time Frame: 45-60 minutes
