Obstetrical Ultrasound
Purpose: An Obstetrical Ultrasound produces images of embryo or fetus.
Preparation: A full bladder is required for this examination. You will be instructed to drink 3-8oz. glasses of water 1-2 hours before your scheduled exam time. Prior to your exam, a Registered Ultrasound Technician will explain the procedure and answer any questions you have.
What to Expect: You will be asked to lie on your back on the ultrasound table. A warm gel is applied over the area of the body being studied. The ultrasound technician will move the transducer back and forth over the area of interest as images are captured.
Post Exam Information: Your images will be reviewed by a Radiologist and the results of your exam will be forwarded to your physician. Your physician will be able to discuss the results of your exam with you.
Time Frame: 30-45 minutes
