Venous Doppler Ultrasound of the Extremities
Purpose: A Venous Doppler Ultrasound is a procedure used to evaluate blood flow through the major veins in the arms and/or legs.
Preparation: A Venous Doppler Ultrasound does not require any advance preparation. Prior to your exam, a Registered Ultrasound Technician will explain the procedure and answer any questions you have.
What to Expect: You will be asked to lie on your back on the ultrasound table. A warm gel is applied to the area of the body being studied. The ultrasound technician will move the transducer back and forth over the area of interest in order to capture images.
Post Exam Information: Your images will be reviewed by a Radiologist and the results of your exam will be forwarded to your physician. Your physician will be able to discuss the results of your exam with you.
