Chest/Rib Detail Imaging
Purpose: Chest/Rib Detail imaging is a procedure used to evaluate the organs and other structures located within the chest cavity.
Preparation: Chest/Rib Detail imaging does not require any advance preparation. On the day of your exam, wear clothing that you can change out of easily. Prior to your exam, an ARRT Registered Radiologic Technologist will explain the procedure and answer any questions you may have. If you think you are pregnant, please inform the technologist before your exam.
What to Expect: You will be asked to stand in front of an x-ray unit located on the wall. If you are unable to stand, other adaptations will be made. The technologist will turn you into various positions to optimally image the required anatomy. You will be instructed to take in a deep breath and hold it until the x-ray exposure has been completed. The technologist will review the images and if they are acceptable you will be free to leave.
Post Exam Information: Your images will be reviewed by a Radiologist and the results of your exam will be forwarded to your physician. Your physician will be able to discuss the results of your exam with you.
Time Frame: 5-10 minutes
