Spine Imaging
Purpose: Spine Imaging can include images of Cervical Spine (neck), the Thoracic Spine (upper back), the Lumbar Spine (lower back) or the tail bones.
Preparation: Spine imaging does not require any advance preparation. On the day of your exam, wear clothing that you can change out of easily. An ARRT Registered Radiologic Technologist will explain the procedure and answer any questions you have. If you think you are pregnant, please tell the technologist before your exam.
What to Expect: Images of your spine may be taken while you are standing or lying down. You may be asked to hold sandbags. The technologist may position you a number of ways to obtain several views of your spine. You may be asked to hold your breath during the exposure. The technologist will review the images, and if they are acceptable, you will be free to leave.
Post Exam Information: Your images will be reviewed by a Radiologist and the results of your exam will be forwarded to your physician. Your physician will be able to discuss the results of your exam with you.
Time Frame: 10-15 minutes
