Swing Bed Program
Rusk County Memorial Hospital offers the Swing Bed Program to patients who need extended skilled nursing care and daily therapy following an acute care hospital stay. The Swing Bed Program allows individuals admitted to the hospital for acute care to transfer to the rehabilitation phase (Swing Bed phase) of treatment without leaving their hospital bed.
The goal of the Program is to help patients achieve independence and gain strength prior to their return home through the use of rehabilitation therapies and education. The Swing Bed Program combines quality therapies and nursing care with the convenience of being close to family and friends to speed recovery.
Services available to Swing Bed residents include:
- Nursing Care
- Physical therapy
- Occupational therapy
- Speech therapy
- Wound care
- IV medication therapy
- Nutritional education
- Comfort cares
- Discharge planning/social services
- Life enrichment
The patient may be eligible for Medicare and/or private insurance payment for the Swing Bed stay. A social worker at Rusk County Memorial Hospital can determine and further explain this eligibility.
